Electric Drums have been around since the late 1970’s Those early kits featuredhard rubber pads and generated bleeps and bloops that sounded like something out of Star Trek. Todays electric drum kits use digital samples of great sounding acoustic drums loaded onto a memory chip and tiggered by the striking of an extrenal pad. When you hit the pad. the sound of the sampled drum or cymbal is generated, just as if you were playing the original acoustic kit.
Sampled sounds have never sounded perfectly identical to their acoustic counterpart until now. With such an advance in technology the new electric drums provide such a wide varitey of sounds. You can play loun through an amplifier or how i prefer soft through headphones.they’re also a lot more compact than acoustic drums, making them ideal for the bedroom and a lot of gigging.
